Description

Inspired by our new Mathematics: The Winton Gallery, this black Zaha Hadid A4 Sketchbook from Zaha Hadid Architects features a central illustration of the turbulence fields surrounding a Handley Page Gugnunc Aircraft, built in 1929 for a competition to construct a safe aircraft. Ground-breaking aerodynamic research influenced the wing design of this experimental aircraft, helping to transform public opinion about the safety of flying and to secure the future of the aviation industry.

This aeroplane is the centrepiece of our new Mathematics gallery at the Science Museum and highlights perfectly the central theme - how mathematical practice is driven by and influences, real–world concerns and activities. Designed by the world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects, this outstanding new gallery spans 400 years of human ingenuity and brings mathematical history to life through the design and architecture of its displays.

This notebook has blank 150gsm cartridge paper and measures 21cm x 29.7cm (A4 portrait size), perfect for any budding architects or artists.
